Description of key information

In this study no inhibition on the growth of the freshwater green alga Pseudokirchneriella subcapitata was found after 72 hours of exposure to the test item. The NOEC for both, inhibition of growth rate and yield, after 72 hours were 4.82 µg test item/L. The EC50-values for both, inhibition of growth rate and yield after 72 hours were > 4.82 µg test item/L. The test item caused a slight stimulation on the yield. All effect levels are given based on the geometric mean measured test item concentration.

Additional information

The toxicity of Vivtroze-H to the unicellular freshwater green alga Pseudokirchneriella subcapitata was determined according to OECD guideline 201.The aim of the study was to assess the effects on growth rate and yield production over a period of 72 hours. The study was conducted under static conditions with an initial cell density of 7085 cells/mL. Based on a preliminary range finding test a saturated solution with a nominal concentrationof 100 mg test item/Lwas tested. Six replicates were tested for the limit concentration and the control. Environmental conditionswere determined to be within the acceptable limits. The determination of the test item was carried out by LC-MS/MS from the limit concentration and the control at the start of the exposure (0 hours) and the end of the exposure (72 hours). The measured concentration of the test item at the start of the exposure (0 hours) was 5.15 µg/L and at the end of the exposure (72 hours) 4.51 µg/L of the saturated solution. All effect values given are based on the geometric mean measured test item concentration of the test item. In this study no inhibition on the growth of the freshwater green alga Pseudokirchneriella subcapitata was found after 72 hours of exposure to the test item. The NOEC for both, inhibition of growth rate and yield, after 72 hours were 4.82 µg test item/L.
