Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Additional information

One experimental study is available investigating the effects of aminoiminomethanesulphinic acid (CAS No. 1758-73-2) to aquatic algae (MOE, 1999). The study was performed according to OECD 201 (GLP) under static conditions. The freshwater algae Selenastrum capricornutum was exposed to five nominal concentrations up to 100 mg/L. The concentrations were selected based on a preliminary range-finding study. Analytical measurements by HPLC showed that the measured concentrations decreased below 80% of nominal. This is considered due to instability of the test substance in water under alkaline conditions. It is likely that the substance decomposes in water (See IUCLID Section 5.1.2). Thus, it is considered justified to base the effect concentrations on the nominal concentrations since the study design reflects the behaviour of released in the aquatic environment. After 72 h an EC50 of 55.1 mg/L and a NOEC of 17.1 mg/L resulted based on growth rate.
