Additional information

On the basis of available data, dicyclopentyl(dimethoxy)silane has moderate volatility and high adsorption potential. Therefore, any dicyclopentyl(dimethoxy)silane released to the environment may be found close to point-sources and where release is continuous, in air and aquatic (including sediment) compartments.

Dicyclopentyl(dimethoxy)silane hydrolyses moderately rapidly with a half-life of 19 hours at 25°C and pH 7 to form dicyclopentylsilanediol and methanol. On the basis of available data, dicyclopentylsilanediol has low volatility, low adsorption potential and is not expected to biodegrade. Therefore, it may be found in the aquatic, soil and sediment compartments.
