Reliable freshwater aquatic toxicity data are available for three trophic levels: fish, invertebrates and algae. For fish a LC50 of 42.3 mg/L was determined (OECD Guideline 203). For aquatic invertebrates an EC50 of 58 mg/L (OECD 202) and for algae an ECr50 of ca. 90 mg/l and an ECb50 of 36 mg/L (OECD 201) were determined.

The hydrolysis half-life of the registered substance is approximately 30h at 20-25°C and pH 7. The substance is unstable at pH 4 and pH9. The substance will therefore hydrolyse at a moderately fast rate when in contact with water and atmospheric moisture to form 2-(3,4-epoxyhexyl)ethyl silanetriol and ethanol. The silanol hydrolysis product has a log Kow of (-0.63 at 20°C) and therefore is not predicted to bioaccumulate. So long-term exposure in aquatic organisms is not expected. Ethanol is well characterised in the public domain literature and is not hazardous at the concentrations relevant to the studies; the short-term EC50 and LC50 values for ethanol are in excess of 1000 mg/l (OECD 2004 - SIDS for ethanol, CAS 64-17-5).

A reliable study according to OECD 209 showed no indication of toxicity to microorganisms (EC50 > 100 mg/L).
