No toxicity hazard (leading to Classification and Labelling) has been identified for Sodium hypophosphite whose data have been used for read-across with potassium phosphinate. The NOAELs established for repeated dose and reproduction toxicity were > or = to 1000 mg/kg/day. In addition, no high peak exposures are expected. Therefore, there is no need to derive acute, long-term, systemic and/or local DNELs. In addition, Potassium phosphinate is not used by general population and no traces of the substance remains on the end products after industrial use, thus DNEL derivation for general population is irrelevant.
