Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Materials and methods

Test guideline
Qualifier:
according to guideline
Guideline:
EU Method A.8 (Partition Coefficient)
Principles of method if other than guideline:
Because of the chemical nature of the test item and the impossibility to conduct a classic shake flask test to determine experimentally the partition coefficient (n-octanol/water), an estimation of this parameter was calculated on the basis of the test item solubility in the two pure solvents.
GLP compliance:
no
Type of method:
other: on the basis of the test item solubility
Partition coefficient type:
octanol-water

Type:

Partition coefficient:

Temp.:

Remarks on result:
other: no data about pH
Details on results:
About 0.10 g of the test item remained undissolved adding a total of 1000 mL of n-octanol at room temperature (ca. 22°C).
Therefore the test item solubility in n-octanol was estimated to be lower than 0.1 g/L.
Since also the water solubility value from the Technical Report CH – 204/2013 resulted to be < 0.1 g/L, a similar affinity of the test item for both solvent can be estimated.

Taking into consideration the ratio between the two solubility values, the test item partition coefficient can be estimated to be near 1 and therefore the log Pow near 0.

Applicant's summary and conclusion

Conclusions:
From the obtained experimental data, it can be concluded that the Partition Coefficient (Pow) of Soybean (Glycine max) dry purified extract sample at room temperature (ca. 22°C) is estimated to be near 1 and therefore the log Pow near 0.
