Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Additional information

Justification for classification or non-classification

Acute toxicity studies for other substances of the same read-across category as ‘glycerides, C16-22 (SDA Reporting Number: 21-001-00)’ indicate low acute oral and dermal toxicity, with overall LD50 values > 3,000 mg/kg bw. Moreover, these substances have a long history of safe use in a wide range of nutritional (food and feed), cosmetic and industrial applications.

Exposure via the inhalation route is not expected given the physical state (solid) and low vapour pressure of ‘glycerides, C16-22 (SDA Reporting Number: 21-001-00)’.In many cases the substance is used in industrial applications and transported and handled in liquid form (heated). If the substance is handled in powder form, sprayed or otherwise finely dispersed in the air, the use of appropriate risk management measures (e.g. filter mask) is recommended.

Based on the above information, the substance does not require classification for acute oral, dermal or inhalation toxicity according to Directive 67/548/EC or Regulation 1272/2008/EC.
