Description of key information

Flash Point: 31.5 - 37°C (Closed-cup)

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

Three reliable measured flash points are available for the substance. Those known to have been conducted according to international or national standard methods are considered to be reliable, even where no further information about the studies is available. Measured flash point of values of 31.5°C and 37°C were determined for the substance using relevant closed-cup test methods. The results are considered to be reliable and used as weight of evidence. The closed-cup results are supported by a measured flash point of 38°C using ASTM D92-72 (open cup method).

Variations in the flash point values may be caused by variations in purity of the test substance and in the test method used. Individual companies will classify their products according to the flash point data specific to their substance.

A flash point of 31.5 - 37°C and a measured boiling point of 152.4°C, indicate that the substance should be classified as a flammable liquid according to the criteria of Regulation (EC) No. 1272/2008.
