Description of key information
In the defined HPLC assay of OECD Guideline 121, a chromatographic peak for the test
material was observed at a retention time of approximately 2.8 minutes, which correlates
to an estimated log Koc value of 3.1. The estimated log Koc value using the structureproperty
relationship described in the US EPA KocWIN software (USEPA, 2012) is log
Koc = 3.03, which agrees with the measured value. The 2-butoxyethyl benzoate
substance is therefore concluded to have moderate affinity for partitioning from water to
organic matter associated with soil, sediment, and activated sludge biosolids.
