Additional information

A 21-day NOEC of 1.6 mg/l (nominal concentration) in unbuffered media has been determined for the effects of cyclohexylamine on reproduction of Daphnia magna in compliance with OECD Test Guideline 211 (Daphnia magna Reproduction Test) (data from ECHA registration dossier, review article or handbook, MITI 1997).

Details from the study report show that the pH rose significantly in the highest concentrations tested. However, the pH in the concentrations relevant for the NOEC value (1.6 mg/l) were reported to be up to 8.1, and up to 8.0 for the next concentration up (2.9 mg/l). The pH at the relevant effect concentrations are not above the recommended values in the OECD guidance, and are not unrealistic for environmental conditions.
