Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

DSC analysis

Between 250 – 270 °C a second small endothermic effect could be detected. These effects are untypical for melting of the test item. Two exothermic effects were observed in the temperature range 290 – 350 °C and 350 – 460 °C with an overall decomposition energy of -140 J/g and -80 J/g respectively.

Capillary method

The test item showed no melting in the temperature range from ambient temperature to 295 °C. Above 295 °C the test item decomposes under evolution of gas and the colour of the test item changed to black.

One to this result, the item shows no melting of the test item until the decomposition starts at a temperature of 295 °C.

Conclusions:
The substance decomposes before melting (at 290 °C)
Executive summary:

The thermal behaviour of test item was assessed using the DSC analysis, according to the OECD guideline 102.

The test item does not melt up to the decomposition of approx. 290 °C at atmospheric pressure (1020 hPa) as determined by differential scanning calorimetry. To verify the results of the DSC measurement, three additional measurements with the capillary method were performed in the temperature range of 28 – 310 °C with a heating rate of 10 K/min. The test item showed no melting in the temperature range from ambient temperature to 295 °C. Above 295 °C the test item decomposes under evolution of gas and the colour of the test item changed to black.

One to this result, the item shows no melting of the test item until the decomposition starts at a temperature of 295 °C.

Conclusion

The substance decomposes before melting (at 290 °C)
