Results and discussion
Water solubility
- Water solubility:
- < 274 µg/L
- Temp.:
- 22 °C
- Details on results:
- The solubility screen test estimated the solubility of PBSF to be less than 274 ng/mL in water at 22 - 24 °C.
Calculation:
1.0 uL PBSF = 1.0 uL x 1.7 g/mL = 17 mg PBSF
Approximate solubility = 17 mg/6.205 L = 0.27397 mg/L = 274 ug/L = 274 ng/mL

Applicant's summary and conclusion
- Conclusions:
- Interpretation of results (migrated information): slightly soluble (0.1-100 mg/L)
The solubility screen test estimated the solubility of PBSF to be less than 274 ng/mL in water at 22 - 24 °C. - Executive summary:
The water solubility of PBSF was performed according to 3M Laboratory Method ETS-8-170.1 "Solubility Screen Test: Approximate Solubility Determination of a Test Substance in Various Solvents". The test is equivalent to OECD TG105, preliminary test. This method is a pre-requisite to the shake flask and column elution methods and provides an estimate of the water solubility of the test substance. A 1 uL aliquot of PBSF was introduced into a volumetric flask containing 6.205 L of water. Following sample addition, the volumetric flask was shaken, allowed to settle overnight, and visually observed for PBSF droplets on the bottom of the flask. The solubility screen test estimated the solubility of PBSF to be less than 274 ng/mL in water at 22 - 24 °C.
This study is classified as reliable with restrictions. While the test method is equivalent to OECD TG105 preliminary test, test method is a screen test, no further test was conducted.
