Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Additional information

Two studies are available that provide information on the boiling point of FAV-ES.

In the key study, a well documented and recent (2014) study using Direct Scanning Calorimetry did not show any thermal processes (evaporation or degradation) up to a temperature of 200°C.

The second study (Mazzei, 2013) contains little information about the method used. In this study, the initial boiling was determined to be 86.5 °C. The boiling point range was determined until a distillate of 3% of the volume was generated. The boiling point with a distillate of 3% of the volume was determined to be 145.8 °C. As these results are substantially different from the results of the DSC analysis, it is concluded that during the study by Mazzei, a thermal decomposition occured due to a high and unregistered temperature reached in the bottom of the testing apparatus. As a consequence, the study by Mazzei is disregarded for the purpose of this registration dossier.
