Description of key information

Appearance/physical state/colour:

According to the data from hanbook, the test chemical was a clear organic liquid.

Supporting data from various other handbooks and authoritative database, the test substance was an organic liquid and colorless volatile liquid with a strong odor, respectively.

 

Melting point/freezing point:

 The freezing point of the substance was found to be -146°C.

Also, according to the data from other reliable sources freezing point of the test substance was determined to be in the range from -31.8°C to -64°C

 

Boiling point:

The boiling point of test chemical was determined to be 118°C.

According to the data from other reliable sources boiling point of test chemical was concluded to be in the range of 114°C - 117.9°C

 

Density:

The density of the test chemical was determined to be 1.6202 g/cm3 at 20°C.

According to the data from other reliable sources the boiling point of the test substances ranges from 1.629°Cg/cm3– 1.65g/cm3.

 

Particle size distribution (granulometry):

The study does not need to be conducted because the substance is marketed or used in a non solid or granular form.

 

Vapour pressure:

Vapour pressure of the test chemical was determined to be 2770Pa (2.77KPa) at 25°C.

Data from various other reliable sources also assist to conclude the vapour pressure of test chemical in the range 2133.16Pa – 104778.06Pa at the temperature 20°C – 119.4°C.

 

Partition coefficient:

 KOWWIN V1.68 was used to estimate the octanol water partition coefficient of the test chemical. The estimated log POW of the test chemical was 0.88. Based on the estimated value, the test chemical can be considered hydrophillic in nature.

For supporting the above value, data from secondary source also concluded the value of log POW to be 0.88.

Test chemical did not catch fire on being exposed to air at room temperature of 27°C and pressure of 966 hPa. This indicates that the test chemical was not auto-flammable.

 

Flammability:

Test chemical does not indicate any ignition when the flame of bunsen burner having temperature of approximately 950°C is brought in contact with it. Thus it can be concluded that the test chemical was not flammable at high temperature.

 

Explosiveness:

The study does not need to be conducted because there are no chemical groups present in the molecule which are associated with explosive properties.
