First-aid measures
General information: No alcohol after contact with product.
After inhalation:
Move exposed person to fresh air. Keep person warm and at rest. If not breathing, if breathing is irregular or if respiratory arrest occurs, provide artificial respiration or oxygen by trained personnel. It may be dangerous to the person providing aid to give mouth-to-mouth resuscitation. Get medical attention if adverse health effects persist or are severe. If unconscious, place in recovery position and get medical attention immediately. Maintain an open airway. Loosen tight clothing such as a collar, tie, belt or waistband. In case of inhalation of decomposition products in a fire, symptoms may be delayed.
The exposed person may need to be kept under medical surveillance for 48 hours.
After skin contact:
Wash off immediately with soap and plenty of water removing all contaminated clothes and shoes. If skin irritation persists, call a physician.
After eye contact:
Immediately flush eyes with plenty of water, occasionally lifting the upper and lower eyelids. Check for and remove any contact lenses if easy to do. Continue to rinse for at least 10 minutes. Get medical attention.
After swallowing:
Wash out mouth with water. Move exposed person to fresh air. Keep person warm and at rest. If material has been swallowed and the exposed person is conscious, give small quantities of water to drink. Stop if the exposed person feels sick as vomiting may be dangerous. Do not induce vomiting unless directed to do so by medical personnel. If vomiting occurs, the head should be kept low so that vomit does not enter the lungs. Get medical attention if adverse health effects persist or are severe.
Never give anything by mouth to an unconscious person. If unconscious, place in recovery position and get medical attention immediately. Maintain an open airway. Loosen tight clothing such as a collar, tie, belt or waistband.

No specific fire or explosion hazard. Promptly isolate the scene by removing all persons from the vicinity of the incident if there is a fire. No action shall be taken involving any personal risk or without suitable training. This material is very toxic to aquatic organisms. Fire water contaminated with this material must be contained and prevented from being discharged to any waterway, sewer or drain.

Protective equipment
Fire-fighters should wear appropriate protective equipment and selfcontained breathing apparatus (SCBA) with a full face-piece operated in positive pressure mode.
Additional information
The product is a non-flammable and not readily combustible solid.
Do not allow run-off from fire fighting to enter drains or water courses.

Personal precautions, protective equipment and emergency procedures
Personal precautions: No action shall be taken involving any personal risk or without suitable training. Keep unnecessary and unprotected personnel from entering. Do not touch or walk through spilled material. Provide adequate ventilation. Avoid the generation of dust. Avoid contact with skin, eyes and clothing. Put on appropriate personal protective equipment, e.g. in case of dust generation wear a respirator conforming to EN140 with Type A/P2 filter or better. Wear chemically resistant gloves (tested to EN374) in combination with intensive management supervision controls. Use suitable eye protection. Wear suitable coveralls to prevent exposure to the skin.
Environmental precautions:
Very toxic to aquatic organisms. Avoid dispersal of spilt material and runoff and contact with soil, waterways, drains and sewers. Inform the relevant authorities if the product has caused environmental pollution (sewers, waterways, soil or air).
Methods and material for containment and cleaning up:
Large spill: Move containers from spill area. Prevent entry into sewers, water courses, basements or confined areas. Vacuum or sweep up material and place in a designated, labelled waste container. Dispose of via a licensed waste disposal contractor.

Precautions for safe handling
Avoid breathing dust.
Avoid contact with eyes and skin.
Put on appropriate personal protective equipment. Eating, drinking and smoking should be prohibited in areas where this material is handled, stored and processed. Workers should wash hands and face before eating, drinking and smoking. Persons with a history of skin sensitization problems should not be employed in any process in which this product is used. Do not get in eyes or on skin or clothing. Do not ingest. Avoid release to the environment. Keep in the original container or an approved alternative made from a compatible material, kept tightly closed when not in use. Empty containers retain product residue and can be hazardous.
Information about fire - and explosion protection:
Avoid dust accumulation. Dust/air mixtures may ignite violently upon exposure to sparks or sources of
ignition. Kst: 197 bar m/s. Maximum corrected explosion pressure: 7.3 bar.

Storage

Store only in the original receptacle.
Store in accordance with local regulations. Store in a dry and cool place. Keep container tightly closed until ready for use. Containers that have been opened should be carefully closed. Do not store in unlabelled containers. Use appropriate containment to avoid environmental contamination.

Exposure controls / personal protection
Additional Information about design of technical facilities
If this product contains ingredients with exposure limits, personal, workplace atmosphere or biological monitoring may be required to determine the effectiveness of the ventilation or other control measures and/or the necessity to use respiratory protective equipment. Reference should be made to European Standard EN 689 for methods for the assessment of exposure by inhalation to chemical agents and national guidance documents for methods for the determination of hazardous substances.
Local exhaust ventilation is strongly recommended.
Provide extract ventilation to material transfer points and other openings. Minimise exposure by partial enclosure of the operation or equipment and provide extract ventilation at openings. Ensure material transfers are under containment or extract ventilation. Handle in a fume cupboard or under extract ventilation.

General protective and hygienic measures:
Keep away from foodstuffs, beverages and feed.
Wash hands, forearms and face thoroughly after handling chemical products, before eating, smoking and using the lavatory and at the end of the working period. Appropriate techniques should be used to remove potentially contaminated clothing. Wash contaminated clothing before reusing. Ensure that eyewash stations and safety showers are close to the workstation location.
Respiratory protection:
Use a properly fitted, air-purifying or air-fed respirator complying with an approved standard if a risk assessment indicates this is necessary. Respirator selection must be based on known or anticipated exposure levels, the hazards of the product and the safe working limits of the selected respirator.
Protection of hands:
Chemical-resistant, impervious gloves complying with an approved standard (EN374) and considering the permeation breakthrough time should be worn at all times when handling chemical products if a risk assessment indicates this is necessary.
After contamination with product change the gloves immediately and dispose of them according to relevant national and local regulations.

Chemical stability
The product is stable when stored at room temperature in closed, original container. Stable under normal conditions of handling, use and transportation. Stable if protected from heat and exposure to air.
Avoid: Heat, open flames, sparks and sources of ignition.
Dust may form explosive mixture in air.
Hazardous decomposition products: Carbon disulfide, hydrogen sulfide, carbon oxides, nitrous oxides, zinc oxide fumes.
Possibility of hazardous reactions
Reacts with acids under release of toxic and highly flammable carbon disulfide.

Storage at temperatures above 30 °C is NOT recommended.

Additional information
During the vulcanization process, traces of carcinogenic N-nitrosamines may be formed from decomposition products (amines) in the presence of nitrosating agents. N-dibutylnitrosamine is considered being carcinogenic according to TRGS 552 (Germany).

Recommendation
Examine possibilities for re-utilisation. Product residues and uncleaned empty containers should be packaged, sealed, labelled, and disposed of or recycled according to relevant national and local regulations. Where large quantities are concerned, consult the supplier. When uncleaned empty containers are passed on, the recipient must be warned of any possible hazard that may be caused by residues. For disposal within the EC, the appropriate code according to the European Waste List (EWL) should be used. It is among the tasks of the polluter to assign the waste to waste codes specific to industrial sectors and processes according to the European Waste List (EWL).
European waste catalogue
According to the European Waste Catalogue, Waste Codes are not product specific, but application specific.
The user based on the application for which the product was used should assign waste codes.
