Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Rationale for reliability incl. deficiencies:
comparable to guideline study with acceptable restrictions

BZ (Brennzahl: burning index according to VDI 2263, 1, 2.3) BZ3 - local burn or glow, no spread

Interpretation of results:
non flammable
Remarks:
BZ (Brennzahl: burning index according to VDI 2263, 1, 2.3) 3 means: a local burn or glow, no spread. The classification criterion for flammability is a burning rate (mm/s), but the test substance shows no spread of burn. It is considered not to be a flammable solid.
Endpoint:
substances / mixtures which in contact with water emit flammable gases
Data waiving:
study scientifically not necessary / other information available
Justification for data waiving:
the study does not need to be conducted because the experience in production or handling shows that the substance does not react with water, e.g. the substance is manufactured with water or washed with water
Endpoint:
pyrophoric solids
Data waiving:
study scientifically not necessary / other information available
Justification for data waiving:
the study does not need to be conducted because the substance is known to be stable in contact with air at room temperature for prolonged periods of time (days) and hence, the classification procedure does not need to be applied

Flammability:
non flammable

Additional information

Flammabilty is derived from BZ (Brennzahl: burning index according to VDI 2263, 1, 2.3). BZ 3 means only a local burn or glow, no spread. A flammable solid means a solid which is readily combustible. Readily combustible solids are dangerous if they can be easily ignited by brief contact with an ignition source, such as a burning match, and if the flame spreads rapidly. The classification criterion for flammability is a burning rate (mm/s) but the test substance shows no spread of burn. The test substance is considered not to be a flammable solid.

Based on chemical structure and experience in handling and use pyrophoric properties are not to be expected and the substance does not liberate flammable gases in dangerous quantities on contact with water.

Justification for classification or non-classification

The available data on flammability of the test substance do not meet the criteria for classification according to Regulation (EC) 1272/2008 and are therefore conclusive but not sufficient for classification. The substance is considered not to be a flammable solid. Based on the chemical structure pyrophoricity and flammability in contact with water are not expected.
