Description of key information

Sorbic acid was tested according the method described in the OECD 103 guideline.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

The measurments in aluminium crucibles with an aperture showed an endothermic effect in the range of 120 - 150 °C (melting range) nd an exothermic effect in the temperature range of 160 -260 °C with a maximum energy og 108 J/g.

Sorbic acid did not show any endothermic effect between the melting point and the exothermal decomposition.

Thus, a boiling point at atmospheric pressure does not exist.
