Calibration and validity verification

The calibration was carried out on August 16, 2010.

The measured density of the calibration liquids at 20°C is mentioned in table below. Also the deviation from the literature values is mentioned. The mean value for the calibration liquids agrees within ± 0.002 g/cm3(accuracy range) with the literature values.

The validity of the method was verified prior to the measurements with the test substances using demineralized water.

Measured density of water at 20°C (determined just before the measurement with Trigonox 187-C40):

Relative density of Bisisobutyryl peroxide

The density of Bisisobutyryl peroxide is calculated from the measured values of the three test substances. This is done by fitting the measured data of table above and calculate the value for Bisisobutyryl peroxide in its pure form by linear extrapolation.

 

The linear fit result in the next density equation with a regression coefficient of 0.9992.

The density of 100% Bisisobutyryl peroxide calculated from this equation is 0.9752 g/cm3. The linear fit gives a high regression coefficient. So, the calculated density is a reliable value.

Executive summary:

The relative density of Bisisobutyryl peroxide was calculated from density studies of two diluted formulations of this substance and of the solvent used in these formulations. The study had to be carried out in this way, because Bisisobutyryl peroxide cannot be handled safely in its pure form.

The relative density of the three test substances was determined according toEC Regulation No 440/2008, Guideline A.3 and according to OECD Guideline 109 , and in accordance with European Chemicals Agency (ECHA), Guidance on information requirements and chemical safety assessment, Chapter R.7a, Endpoint specific guidance, May 2008.
