Description of key information
In accordance with Column 2 (specific rules for adaptation from Column 1) of Annex IX of Regulation (EC) No. 1907/2006, the bioaccumulation is aquatic species study, required under information point 9.3.2, can be omitted if direct and indirect exposure of the aquatic compartment is unlikely. No exposure to the aquatic environment is predicted, therefore testing is not required.

Bioaccumulation data on as structural analogue has been provided as supporting information.
In the study Anon. (1979) the bioaccumulation potential of the structural analogue, 2,6-di-tert-butyl-P-cresol, was determined in accordance with the Japanese guideline ‘Bioaccumulation study of chemicals in fish and shellfish (Kanpogyo No. 5, Yakuhatsu No. 615, 49 Kikyoku No. 392)’ and broadly in accordance with OECD Guideline 305 C. The study was performed to sound scientific principles and reported to a good standard and was assigned a reliability score of 2 in line with Klimisch (1997).
The study was carried out over 56 days in Cyprinus carpio. The test material was investigated at concentrations of 500, 50 and 5 ppb; however the toxicity seen at the 500 ppb level was too great to continue until the end of the 56 day study period. As a result of this, the BCF was determined in two concentrations only.
The BCF at a concentration of 5 ppb (average measured concentration 3.82 ppb) is 330 - 1800.
The BCF at a concentration of 50 ppb (average measured concentration 40.73 ppb) is 230 - 2500.
