Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Additional information

A study to assess the surface active properties of 2-(propyloxy)ethanol found that the concentration response curve did not show ideal properties but their was minimal evidence of surface activity at lower concentrations. From the data in the study, it is possible to predict that the surface tension of a 0.1% solution is likely to be very close to that of pure water. 2-(propyloxy)ethanol can be considered a conservative surrogate for isopropoxyethanol. The straight alkyl chain of the former is more likely to have greater hydrophobic properties than the latter. If the former does not have surface active properties, it can confidently predicted that neither will the latter.
