Phototransformation in air

Estimated half-lives for the components of this UVCB substance range from 1.6 to 2.9 hours.

 

Hydrolysis

Ether bonds are stable and do not hydrolyse to a significant extent at environmental relevant condition. This has been confirmed in an OECD 111 study with Diaminotoluenel, ethoxylated and propoxylated (CAS# 35176-06-8). This substance was stable at pH 4, 7, 9 at 50 degrees Celsius during 120 hours (Bayer Material Science, AG, 2009).

 

Biodegradation

Within 28 days, a degradation of 46 % was determined for Diethanolamine, propoxylated according to OECD guideline 301 F; and hence Diethanolamine, propoxylated is considered to be "Not Readily Biodegradable" (Currenta, 2009).

Within 27 days, a degradation of 37 % was determined for Diethanolamine, propoxylated according to OECD Guideline 302C; and hence Diethanolamine, propoxylated is considered to be "Not Inherently Biodegradable" (Currenta, 2010). 

Bioaccumulation

With a log Kow =3, the substance can be considered to have a low potential for bioaccumulation.

 

Adsorption/desorption

In accordance with Column 2 of REACH Annex IX, the study does not need to be conducted as the substance can be expected to have a low potential for sorption (log Kow =3). The estimated Koc value for homologous components of this UVCB substance is 10 L/kg for the lowest (least sorptive) and highest (most sorptive) molecular weight homologues. The components of this UVCB substance can be regarded as having low affinity for adsorption to soils and activated sludge biosolids.
