Description of key information

Fatty acids, C18-unsaturated, dimers, hydrogenated (CAS No. 68783-41-5) is expected to show no effects up to the limit of the water solubility (<0.52 mg/L).

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

One study, investigating the short-term toxicity to freshwater fish of fatty acids, C18-unsaturated, dimers (CAS No. 61788-89-4) was used as read across to Fatty acids, C18-unsaturated, dimers, hydrogenated (CAS No. 68783-41-5) in accordance with Regulation (EC) No. 1907/2006, Annex XI, 1.5. grouping of substance and read across approach.

This OECD 203 study (Benjits, 2002) was conducted under static test conditions and with Danio rerio. No mortality was observed at the highest tested concentration (350 mg/L nominal) during 96 hours of exposure under conditions tested. Details on preparation of test solutions were not provided.

Based on this result with the analogue substance, it can be concluded that also no toxicological effects on freshwater fish are to be expected up to the water solubility for Fatty acids, C18-unsaturated, dimers, hydrogenated (CAS No. 68783-41-5) (< 0.52 mg/L, detection limit).
