Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Additional information

No data for short-term toxicity to fish are available for Lanthanum carbonate. Therefore, data from the analogue approach source substance Cerium carbonate were applied.

Oncorhynchus mykiss was exposed to Cerium carbonate over a period of 96 h according to OECD 203 in a limit test (Bätscher 2007).

An undiluted filtrate of a supersaturated dispersion with the loading rate of 100 mg/L was tested. The analytically measured concentrations of Cerium in the test medium samples were between 3 and 4 µg/L (mean 3.4 µg/L corresponding to 5.6 µg of Cerium carbonate/L). No mortality was observed in control and test solution during the observation period, and therefore, a LC50(96h) > 100 mg/L (nominal loading rate) was stated.

Further information about the analogue source substances can be found in the data matrix of the justification for the analogue approach, which can be found either in the CSR or as attachment in Iuclid section 13.
