Additional information

The acute toxicity of Lanthanum carbonate (containing water) to Daphnia magna was studied according to OECD 202 (Seyfried 2007). An undiluted filtrate of a supersaturated dispersion with the loading rate of 146 mg/L was tested for 48 h, corresponding to a loading rate of 100 mg/L of Lanthanum carbonate, anhydrous. The arithmetic mean measured concentration of Lanthanum carbonate, anhydrous in the test medium was stated as 160 µg/L. Mortality/immobilization  were observed daily. In the control and at the loading rate of 100 mg/L, no immobilized test organisms were observed during the test period of 48 h. Therefore, the LC50(48h) was given as greater than 100 mg/L (nominal loading rate).
