Description of key information

Toxicty to earthworms were observed in a test according to OECD 222.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Long-term EC10, LC10 or NOEC for soil macroorganisms:
259 mg/kg soil dw

Additional information

In a GLP study on earthworm reproduction according to OECD 222 adverse effects of the UVCB substance was observed. In a 56 day study adult earth worms of the species Eisenia fetida were exposed to

the UVCB substance at nominal concentrations of 0 mg (control), solvent control, 62.5 mg, 125 mg, 250 mg, 500 mg and

1000 mg/kg dry soil weight. No mortality of adult worms was observed in the controls and at all

replicates with test substance. The EC10 body weight change of the adult worms was 585 mg/kg soil dw (EC50 > 1000mg/kg soil dw) The reproduction, mean number of juveniles per test vessel 56 days after application was observed, the EC10 was 259mg/kg soil dw and the EC50 934 mg/kg soil dw.
