Description of key information

Sodium sarcosinate is of low oral toxicity.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

The substance is classified corrosive, thus there is no testing required for registration purposes. One acute oral study in rats is available, however, from the data provided it is not clear which pH value the test substance had. Nevertheless, data availabe from a non-GLP compliant study following standard acute toxicity testing protocol showed no mortality at doses up to 5000 mg/kg and only mild clinical signs.

Justification for classification or non-classification

Data available for the acute oral toxicity are not sufficient for classification. For acute inhalation and acute dermal toxicity data are lacking.
