Executive summary:

According to the Mackay Model Level I, salicylic acid will distribute as follows:

86.1 % in water
13.6 % in soil
0.3 % in sediment
0.02 % in air

This estimation of distribution is consistent with the physico-chimical properties of the substance which show an important water solubility, a low volatility, a non negligible adsorption onto soil and a low Kow.

This calculation method (Mackay, level I) uses a multimedia fate model based on the fugacity cited in the guidance of the ECHA on information requirements and chemical safety assessment (chapter R16), therefore this study is considered as reliable with restrictions.
