Endpoint:
explosive properties of explosives
Data waiving:
study scientifically not necessary / other information available
Justification for data waiving:
the study does not need to be conducted because the substance is an organic substance or mixture containing chemical groups associated with explosive properties, but the exothermic decomposition energy is less than 500 J/g and the onset of exothermic decomposition is below 500°C
Justification for type of information:
JUSTIFICATION FOR DATA WAIVING
In accordance with column 2 of REACH Annex VII, information requirement 7.11 (Explosive properties), the study does not need to be conducted if the organic substance contains chemical groups associated with explosive properties, but the exothermic decomposition energy is less than 500 J/g and the onset of exothermic decomposition is below 500 °C.
The substance does contain a chemical group associated with explosive properties (the Metal-C bond), however, Differential Scanninc Calorimetry (DSC) data on the substance shows no exothermic decomposition up to 500 J/g and from observations of the residue the onset of exothermic decomposition of the substance occurred at approximately 200 °C.
Please refer to the "Attached justification" for the DSC thermogram of the substance.
