Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

Particle size: The particle size of the substance was determined in a reliable study conducted according to generally accepted scientific principles.

Additional information

The substance is a UVCB; reliable particle size data are available for six commercial samples of the substance. Depending on the variation in the processes used during production of the substance, the particle size distribution varies. Plant Sterols obtained from soybean origin has particle size as follows: size less than 100 µm, 10 µm and 4 µm are >50%, ca. 7.7% and ca. 3.6% respectively. Similarly, Plant Sterols of pine tree origin has particle size as follows: size less than 100 µm, 10 µm and 4 µm are <5%, 0% and 0% respectively. Other studies that uses the sieve method gave particle size distribution as follows: size less than 100 µm, 10 µm and 4 µm are ca. 5%, ca. 0.7% and ca. 0.7% respectively; 0.3% (0 - 63 µm) and 7.2% (63 - 125 µm). These studies are considered sufficient to fulfill the information requirements of this endpoint.
