A literature review for published data on tin ecotoxicity was conducted, and made no distinction between different inorganic tin compounds or valence states. Results from the published studies were generally reported as nominal values. Therefore there is still a substantial uncertainty with regard to the speciation form prevailing under the current test conditions and the amount of dissolved, and therefore potentially bioavailable, tin. Only two studies on terrestrial toxicity (both investigating toxicity to soil microorganisms) were identified as reliable for tin.
