No EC10 or NOEC values were reported, although the authors reported no significant effect for bush beans (P. vulgaris) at the highest exposure concentration (unbounded NOEC). From reported data in the paper, however, the average yield at 500 mg Sn/kg in Yolo soil was reduced by 22% compared to the control. As no significant effect was detected, this difference suggests a high variability among the replicates of the same exposure concentration. This could not be verified as standard deviations for the different yields were not reported. Sn-levels in the soil samples were not measured, and test conditions were poorly described. Soils were not properly defined (OC, clay content, CEC); only pH was reported, but the effect of different Sn-spiking concentrations on the pH was not reported. For barley (H. vulgare) only one test concentration was evaluated.
