Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

Determination of 'Ready' Biodegradability: Carbon Dioxide (CO2) Evolution Test (Modified Sturm Test). The study was performed without GLP in a lab which uses to operate under GLP. The study protocol was according to OECD Guideline 301 and EEC method C.4-Cfrom Directive 92/69. No major deviations noted.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Biodegradation in water:
readily biodegradable but failing 10-day window

Additional information

The test material was tested for its readily biodegradability in the CO2Evolution Test (Modified Sturm Test) at ca. 39 mg / 2L, corresponding to approx 12 mg TOC / L. The relative degradation values calculated from the measurement of the CO2formation during the test period of 28 days revealed no significant degradation of the test material. The substance was found not readily biodegradable. The toxicity test showed that there is no inhibition of the degradation of sodium acetate by the test substance.
