- According to ECHA Guidance on information requirements and chemical safety assessment R.7.1.17 the dissociation constant in water is important for ionisable organic substances. Silica fume is an inorganic covalent compound that does not dissociate. In accordance with column 2 of REACH Annex XI, the dissociation constant does not need to be tested, since the test is scientifically unjustified.
