- Silica fume is an inorganic substance and it is not biodegradable. The Information requirements for biodegradability in water and sediment are not relevant for this substance. The justification for test waiving is based on column 2 of Annex VII (9.2.1.1.), the adaptation rules in Annex XI and the results of CSA. Sufficient evidence exists to show that biodegradability simulation studies are not needed for this substance.
