Description of key information

It was found that after removal of the ignition source, the flame extinguished after 8, 21 and 10 seconds and no propagation of combustion was observed within 4 minutes for dilithium azelate, dilithium adipate and dilithium sebacate respectively.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Flammability:
non flammable

Additional information

All three studies are GLP compliant and follow EU method A10 and United Nations (UN), UN no. ST/SG/AC.10/11/Rev.5: Recommendations on the Transport of Dangerous Goods, Part III: Classification Procedures, Test Methods and Criteria Relating to Class 2, Class 3, Class 4, Division 5.1, Class 8 and Class 9, Test N.1: “Test Method for Readily Combustible Solids”, 2009. Therefore, they are given a reliability rating of 1 (reliable without restrictions). It was found that after removal of the ignition source, the flame extinguished after 8, 21 and 10 seconds and no propagation of combustion was observed within 4 minutes for dilithium azelate, dilithium adipate and dilithium sebacate respectively.

Justification for classification or non-classification

As it was found that after removal of the ignition source, the flame extinguished after in <21 seconds and no propagation of combustion was observed within 4 minutes for all three test items, all three test items are considered “not highly flammable”.
