Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Justification for classification or non-classification

Classification according to GHS:

No LD50or LC50values for acute toxicity are available. Fluorosulphuric acid is harmonised classified as Acute Tox. 4 (H332: Harmful if inhaled) according to GHS (016-018-00-7). Based on the available toxicological data of HF, the fluorosulphuric acid is expected to be toxic by inhalation. Therefore the classification of fluorosulphuric acid as Acute Tox. 3 (H331 Toxic if inhaled) is recommended. Since fluorosulphuric acid is corrosive the additional labelling EUH071 (Corrosive to the respiratory tract) is recommended. Fluorosulphuric acid rapidly hydrolyses in water to its hydrolysis products H2SO4and HF. For fluorosulphuric acid therefore the additional labelling EUH029 (Contact with water liberates toxic gas) is recommended.
