First-aid measures
Description of first aid measures
Recommendations must be interpreted considering the available specific information regarding the patient and in conjunction with other sources of authority.
If inhaled:
After inhalation of dust. Fresh air. If difficulties occur: Seek medical attention. After inhalation of decomposition products: Immediately administer a corticosteroid from a controlled/metered dose inhaler. Keep patient calm, remove to fresh air, seek medical attention.
On skin contact:
Wash thoroughly with soap and water.
On contact with eyes:
Wash affected eyes for at least 15 minutes under running water with eyelids held open. Seek medical attention.
On ingestion:
Rinse mouth immediately and then drink plenty of water, seek medical attention.
Most important symptoms and effects, both acute and delayed
Symptoms: methaemoglobinaemia, lung oedema
Hazards: After inhalation of decomposition products: Risk of pulmonary edema. Symptoms can appear later.
Indication of any immediate medical attention and special treatment needed
Treatment: Treat according to symptoms (decontamination, vital functions), no known specific antidote. After inhalation of decomposition products: Pulmonary odema prophylaxis.
Fire-fighting measures
Extinguishing media
Suitable extinguishing media: water spray, foam, dry powder
Special hazards arising from the substance or mixture
At temperatures of > 100 °C can be emitted: Isobutyraldehyde, Carbon dioxide, Dinitrogen oxide, nitrous gases
Advice for fire-fighters
Special protective equipment: Wear a self-contained breathing apparatus.
Further information:
Dispose of fire debris and contaminated extinguishing water in accordance with official regulations.
Accidental release measures
High risk of slipping due to leakage/spillage of product.
Personal precautions, protective equipment and emergency procedures: No special precautions necessary.
Environmental precautions: Do not discharge into drains/surface waters/groundwater. Retain and dispose of contaminated wash water.
Methods and material for containment and cleaning up
For large amounts: Sweep/shovel up.
For residues: Sweep/shovel up.
Handling and storage
Precautions for safe handling
Protection against fire and explosion:
Keep away from sources of ignition - No smoking. Avoid influence of heat.
Conditions for safe storage, including any incompatibilities
When stored loose do not mix with other fertilizers. Store well away from other substances.
Suitable materials for containers: High density polyethylene (HDPE), Low density polyethylene (LDPE)
Further information on storage conditions: Protect from direct sunlight. Protect against heat. Protect against moisture. Protect against contamination. The substance/product may cake under the influence of moisture.
