Description of key information

The 50% aqueous solution of gluconic acid does not have a flash point below its boiling temperature of 129°C.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

The flashpoint of 50% aqueous solution of gluconic acid was measured in a study of Klimish-1 reliability by Atwal and Tremain (2009), using the closed cup equilibrium method. The study, conducted in compliance with Method A.9. Flash Point of Commission Regulation (EC) No 440/2008, and in accordance with Good Laboratory Practices (GLP), reports that 50% aqueous solution of gluconic acid, does not have a flash point below its boiling temperature of 129°C.
