Description of key information

Ethyldimethylamine aquatoxicity profile has been investigated on different levels of the trophic chain, algae, daphnids and fish.

Based on the results obtained it can be conclude that ethyldimethylamine is harmful to algae, daphnids and fish with toxicity figures very similar ranging from ca 24 to 39 mg/L. No long term toxicity tests are available on DMEA but read-across strategy can be applied with triethylamine based on structure and ecotoxicity profiles similarity. Ethyldimethylamine being readily biodegradable, there is no need for characterizing further the toxicity to activated sludges, nevertheless data exist allowing to conclude that ethyldimethylamine is definitely not toxic to microorganisms.
