Adsorption / desorption

The adsorption coefficient was not determined according to EU Method C.19 and OECD Guideline 121 as they were considered not applicable because the test item was highly surface active.

However, the soil adsorption has been be calculated by using KOCWIN v2.00 (Chemservice S.A., 2015a). This tool estimates the organic carbon-normalized sorption coefficient for soil (and also for sediment), which is designated as Koc. Two different models are used for this estimation: the Sabljic molecular connectivity (MCI) method as well as with the traditional method which is based on logKow.

For the first representative of the substance Benzenesulfonic acid, mono-C20-24 (even)-sec-alkyl derivs., para-, sodium salts the traditional method gives a Koc of 1.486E+4 L/kg, whereby the MCI method reveals a value of 4.365E+5 L/kg as result. For the second representative of the substance Benzenesulfonic acid, mono-C20-24 (even)-sec-alkyl derivs., para-, sodium salts the traditional method gives a Koc of 6.364E+5 L/kg, whereby the MCI method reveals a value of 1.493E+7 L/kg as result.

The MCI method is taken more seriously into account due to the fact, that it includes improved correction factors.

Henry´s Law constant and Distribution modelling

The Henry´s Law constant of the test substance was determined by HENRYWIN v3.20 (EPIWIN software) for two different representative structures (Chemservice S.A., 2015b). Using the Bond Method a Henry´s Law Constant of 3.49 E-2 Pa*m3*mol-1(first representative) and 1.91 E-1Pa*m3*mol-1(second representative) was calculated for the substance Benzenesulfonic acid, mono-C20-24 (even)-sec-alkyl derivs., para-, sodium salts at 25 °C. The Group Method showed an “incomplete result”.
