Description of key information

Highly Flammable Liquid

Key value for chemical safety assessment

highly flammable

Additional information

In accordance with Section 1 of REACH Annex XI, the study does not need to be conducted as the flammability of liquids is assessed by reference to the flash point. There is no indication on the basis of structure and experience in handling and use that the substance is flammable in contact with water or air.

The results given in reliable secondary sources show a Lower Explosive Limit 2.68%(V) (70°C) and an Upper Explosive Limit could not to be determined, and a Lower Flammability Limit of 0.34% (V) (100°C) and an Upper Flammability Limit of 63.70% (V) (100°C).

Justification for classification or non-classification

The substance is classified R11 (Highly Flammable) according to Directive 67/548/EEC and Flammable Liquid Category 2 (H225: Highly flammable liquid and vapour) according to Regulation 1272/2008. This is on the basis of a flash point of 14.6°C and a boiling point of 97.9°C.
