Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Additional information

Biodegradation of the test substance has been measured in several test systems. In an OECD 301B CO2 evolution test, biodegradation reached 4.7% after 28 days and 5.5% after 35 days, though the test design did not adequately address volatilization of the test substance from the test mixtures. In a BOD test, 10 to 40% biodegradation was reported. In studies using groundwater contaminated with hydrocarbons, complete degradation of 1,3 -diethylbenzene and 1,4 -diethylene benzene was observed within 12 days. Taken together, these results indicate that the test substance biodegrades in the environment.
