Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

Hydrolysis can be a significant reaction of organic compounds in aqueous environmental compartments. Therefore, the hydrolysis of S-148 in sterile aqueous solutions buffered at pH levels of 4, 7, and 9 was investigated at varying temperatures according to OECD 111 under GLP
The following half life (DT50) were estimated using the definitive experimental data:
pH 4; 25 C; DT 50 = 1625 d
pH 4; 35 C ; DT50 = 371 d
pH 7; 25 C; DT50 = 249 -284 d
pH7; 35 C; DT50 = 144 d
pH 9; 25 C; DT50 = 142 d
pH 9; 35 C; DT50 = 69.5 d
Hydrolysis rate was directly proportional to an increase in pH and in temperature, which indicates that hydrolysis could be a dissipation route for S-148 in the environment. Besides those noted, there were no other difficulties encountered that would bias or affect the integrity of the results of this study.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Half-life for hydrolysis:
284 d
at the temperature of:
25 °C
