Study design

Oxygen conditions:
aerobic
Inoculum or test system:
activated sludge, domestic, non-adapted
Details on inoculum:
- Source of inoculum/activated sludge: Buckland Sewage Treatment Works, Newton Abbot, Devon. Sludge was collected on 1st March 1993.
- Preparation of inoculum for exposure: the sludge was aerated at 20 ± 3 °C overnight. 500 mL were washed with test medium, centrifuged and resuspended in test medium.
- Concentration of sludge: the inoculated test medium was prepared by making 99 mL of the washed sludge up to 10 L in test medium.
Duration of test (contact time):
28 d
