Justification:

L-histidine was determined to be rapidly biodegradable based on the result of the study of Mueller and Neumann (1981) showing 50% degradation after 5 days.

Bioaccumulation of L-histidine can be excluded based on its low log Kow of -3.32

L-histidine is not classified as carcinogenic, mutagenic, toxic for reproduction or Specific Target Organ Toxicity after repeated exposure according to Regulation EC No. 1272/2008 (CLP). L-histidine was determined not to be aquatic toxic based on the NOEC values in daphnia (>= 100 mg/L) and algae (10 mg/L).
