Adequacy of study:
supporting study
Reliability:
2 (reliable with restrictions)
Rationale for reliability incl. deficiencies:
data from handbook or collection of data
Test organisms (species):
Pseudokirchneriella subcapitata (previous names: Raphidocelis subcapitata, Selenastrum capricornutum)
Duration:
96 h
Dose descriptor:
EC50
Effect conc.:
0.4 mg/L
Conc. based on:
element
Remarks:
chromium
Basis for effect:
growth rate
Validity criteria fulfilled:
not specified
Executive summary:

The toxicity of chromium(III) to Selenastrum capricornatum was studied and the results calculated from initial measured concentrations. The algistatic concentration was >1000 µg/l and the concentration that caused a 50% reduction in growth was 397 µg/l.

Description of key information

Key value for chemical safety assessment
