Executive summary:

A study was conducted to determine the short-term toxicity of the test substance to zebra fish (Brachydanio rerio) under static conditions according to OECD Guideline 203 and EU Method C.1. The fish (10/group) were exposed for 96 h to nominal concentrations of 0, 250, 350 and 500 mg/L (equivalent to 0, 235, 329 and 470 mg a.i./L based on a purity of 94%). Mortality and symptoms were assessed after 2 -4, 24, 48, 72 and 96 h. No analytical verification of doses was conducted. There was no mortality at 250 mg/L. Two out of 10 fish died after 24 h in the 350 mg/L group. Finally, a mortality of 100% was observed after 2 -4 h when fish were exposed to 500 mg/L test substance. Under the study conditions, the 96 h LC50 of the test substance was determined to be 350 - 500 mg/L, equivalent to 329-470 mg a.i./L (Markert and Jung, 1988).
