Key result
Flash point:
127 °C
Atm. press.:
1 013.25 hPa

Measured flash point of dodecane control was 79.4 °C. Deviation from the literature value (78.6 °C, ASTM D 7094, Table X1.1), was less than 2 °C. Two subsequent tests with the test item were carried out. The measured flash points of Oligomeric Silane Adduct were: 126.4 °C and 127.4 °C. The mean value is 127 °C at 101.3 kPa. The repeatability criterion was met because the difference between the replicate determinations was less than 2 °C. Measured flash point was automatically corrected to the standard barometric pressure.

Interpretation of results:
GHS criteria not met
Conclusions:
The flash point of the test item was determined to be 127 °C at 101.3 kPa.
Executive summary:

A study was conducted according to Regulation (EC) No 440/2008 method A.9, OPPTS 830.6513, ASTM D93, ASTM D6450 and ASTM DT7094 to determine the flash point of the test item using a closed cup method with Pensky-Martens apparatus. For the test about 2 mL of the test item were filled in the cup. The test was performed twice. The measured flash point at atmospheric pressure was corrected to a standard pressure of 1013 hPa. The flash point was determined to be 127 °C at 101.3 kPa.

Description of key information

The flash point of the test item was determined to be 127 °C at 101.3 kPa.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Flash point at 101 325 Pa:
127 °C
