Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

For the following ecotoxicological studies the test item used corresponds to 50.6% of diisopropyl peroxydicarbonate in 49.4% of ethyl acetate. Its active ingredient, diisopropyl peroxydicarbonate, hydrolyses rapidly into n-isopropanol. Test samples were therefore monitored for n-isopropanol and the results have been converted from isopropanol to the active ingredient of the test item

A study was performed to assess the effect on the growth of the green alga Raphidocelis subcapitata (formerly known as Pseudokirchneriella subcapitata). The method followed was designed to be compatible with the OECD Guidelines for Testing of Chemicals (2006) No 201. All the validity criteria were fulfilled.

Exposure of Raphidocelis subcapitata to the test item gave the following results based on the geometric mean measured test concentrations:

- Growth rate: EC50= 0.27 mg/L; EC10 = 0.22 mg/L

- Yield: ; EC50 = 0.23 mg/L; NOEC not determined due to nature of data

Algae was identified as the most sensitive species.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

EC50 for freshwater algae:
0.27 mg/L
EC10 or NOEC for freshwater algae:
0.22 mg/L
