Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Additional information

Conclusion on classification

The following information are taken into account for the purpose of the CLP classification of the N-octadecylstearamide (CAS 13276-08-9):

Physico-chemical properties:

- Water solubility: < 0.051 mg/L OECD 105, GLP

- Biotic degradation: not readily biodegradable (26% after 28d according OECD 301B, GLP)

- Bioconcentration factor in fish (BCF): not bioaccumulable (BCF = 381.4 L/kg ww < 500, predicted BCFBAF v3.01)

Acute aquatic toxicity:

- Fish: LL50 > 100 mg/L, 32 d, WAF, GLP according OECD 210.

- Crustacea : EL50 >100 mg/L, WAF, GLP according OECD 202.

- Algae : ErL50> 100 mg/L, WAF, GLP according OECD 201.

Chronic aquatic toxicity :

- OECD 210 : LL10 >100 mg/L, WAF, GLP according OECD 210.

- OECD 211 : NOELR > 100 mg/L, WAF, 21 d, GLP, according OECD 211.

- OECD 201 : NOELR > 100 mg/L, WAF, 21 d, GLP, according OECD 201.

The test material is being poorly soluble, there was no toxicity observed in any test, especially according chronic toxicity tests obtained on three trophic levels. Therefore, no classification is required for N-octadecylstearamide according to the Regulation (EC) No.1272/2008 on classification, labelling and packaging of substances and mixtures (CLP).

The registered substance does not meets any of the criteria to be classified as hazardous according CLP regulation (Regulation (EC) No 1272/2008). Considering that the substance is not classified as hazardous, no PNEC are calculated for environment.
